2.- WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your computer when you access certain websites. Cookies allow a website, among other things, to store and retrieve information about browsing habits of a User or computer, and depending on the information contained and the way they use their computer, such information can be used to recognize the User. Cookies are only associated with an anonymous User and their computer or device, and do not provide references that allow us to know their personal details.

3.- TYPES OF COOKIES

3.1.- Based on origin

a.- First-party Cookies: sent to the User‘s terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the Website itself, and from which the service requested by the User is provided.

b.- Third-party Cookies: sent to the User‘s terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the Website, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

3.2.- Based on purpose

There are many purposes for the use of cookies. Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained are processed, cookies can be:

(a) Technical Cookies: these allow the User to navigate through a website, platform, or application, and to use the different options or services that it may contain, including those that enable the management and operation of the website, as well as its functions and services. For example: controlling traffic and data communication, identifying a log-in, accessing parts with restricted access, remembering the elements that make up an order, purchasing or placing an order, managing payments, controlling fraud regarding the security of the service, making the request for registration or participation in an event, counting visits for the purpose of billing licenses of the software with which the service works (website, platform, or application), using security features during navigation, storing content for broadcasting videos or sound, enabling dynamic content (e.g., the animation of loading text or an image), or sharing content through social networks.

Technical cookies will be exempt from compliance with the obligations set forth in Section 22.2 of the LSSI-CE when they allow the service requested by the User to be provided, as in the case of the cookies listed above. However, if these cookies are also used for non-exempt purposes (e.g., for behavioral advertising purposes), they will be subject to these obligations.

b) Preferences cookies: they allow information to be remembered so that the User can access the service with certain characteristics that may differentiate their experience from that of other Users, such as, e.g., language, the number of results to be displayed while searching, the appearance or content of the service depending on the browser used, and/or the region from which the User accesses the service.

If it is the User himself who chooses these characteristics (e.g., if he selects the language of a website by clicking on the icon of the corresponding country), these cookies will be exempt from the obligations in Article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE, as it is considered a service expressly requested by the User, provided that these cookies obey exclusively to the selected purpose.

c) Analytics cookies: they allow the party responsible for the cookies to monitor and analyze the behavior of Users on the websites to which these cookies are linked, including quantifying advertisement impact. The information collected through this type of cookies is used to study the website, application, or platform’s activity, in order to make improvements by analyzing the data extracted from the service use made by the User.

d) Behavioral advertising cookies: they store information on User behavior obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, allowing the development of a specific profile in order to display targeted advertising.

3.3.- Based on how long cookies remain active

a) Session Cookies: designed to collect and store data while the User accesses a website. They are usually used to store information that is only of interest to provide the User with the service requested on a single occasion (e.g., a list of the purchased products). These cookies disappear once the User logs out.

b) Persistent Cookies: the data remain stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
